The twelve health centres and clinics in the province of Valencia that have remained closed due to the consequences of the Dana have resumed activity.
The Department of Health has announced the reopening of the departments of Valencia-Doctor Peset, Hospital General de Valencia, La Fe and Manises and that, in collaboration with the municipalities, it is activating extraordinary health care points in areas affected by the storm where health centres cannot open.
In the Valencia-Doctor Peset health department, the Pinedo (with Pediatrics), El Saler and El Perellonet health centres are resuming their activities at their usual hours; in Manises, the Barrio del Cristo health centre will also serve the population of Aldaia, which has kept its centres closed. Likewise, the Cheste, Chiva and Turís health centres have opened to provide emergency care.
In the health department of the General Hospital of Valencia, care is being resumed in the centres of Xirivella, Torrent II, Montserrat and Picassent, while in the area of La Fe, the Albal health centre has been set up to deal with emergencies together with the health centres of Silla and Alcàsser.
In collaboration with the town councils of the affected municipalities, extraordinary health care points have been established and the referral of care for users of closed centres to nearby ones has been coordinated.
On the other hand, the Valencian Community Emergency Service (SESCV) has established five assistance points for rescued people, in Requena, Alzira, Torrent and two in Valencia capital, with a SAMU unit and another Basic Life Support unit.
In addition, the distribution of oxygen to the homes of chronic patients and medication to senior centers, among others, has been organized, and the SASUE (Urgent Health Care and Emergency Service) is monitoring kidney patients undergoing dialysis treatment.
As regards hospital emergency care, the Ministry has maintained that this healthcare is continuing as normal in all health departments.
The Ministry has also activated a series of extraordinary measures to guarantee assistance to the population in the face of the meteorological alert situation, such as sending a notice to the population by SMS to warn that, due to the storm affecting the Community and the recommendations not to travel, the appointments of people who have not been able to attend hospital and specialist centre appointments since yesterday will be rescheduled until normal activity is reestablished.
In addition, the Ministry has established that over the next few days, as a contingency measure, patients affected by the weather conditions and their consequences who do not have documentation will be able to collect prescribed medication at pharmacies with their ID number.
This measure is intended to facilitate the dispensing of medicines in cases where SIP cards and identification documents are lost, thus ensuring that the affected population can access the prescribed medication under any circumstances.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health has called for an extraordinary information meeting next Saturday with the trade union organizations represented in the Health Sector Board to inform them of the health actions taken to deal with the consequences of the DANA. EFE
