RESULTS of the survey for nutrition professionals
A few days ago I published a survey addressed to nutrition professionals with the aim of identifying the main difficulties and concerns we face.
The questions were addressed to nutritionists who work or have worked in a practice, either self-employed or employed.
Reading all your answers (which have been a lot, THANK YOU🥰) I have come to the conclusion that most of us have the same concerns.
👉🏻Os I make a SUMMARY with the conclusions:
Main difficulties that you encountered or are encountering when you go for consultation:
✍🏻Las most repeated answers have been:
-Shortage of patients
-Lack of attendance at appointments/cancellations
-Lack of patient adherence
Financial instability/temporariness of work -Lack of value of our work
-Low value of our work
Poor remuneration for the time spent per patient -Hindrances from other doctors and other patients
Obstacles from other health professionals -Intrusiveness
-Intrusiveness
Do you think that in the official degree you were properly trained to be a consultant? What shortcomings do you think the degree/higher cycle has in this respect?
✍🏻Un 90% of the respondents consider that they did NOT receive sufficient quality training in the regulated studies. The main reasons are:
-outdated/obsolete training
-Unpractical subjects, too much theory which is then not used in practice.
-Lack of internships in companies and difficulty in obtaining them.
-No training on entrepreneurship and how to set up and run a practice.
-Lack of specialisation.
Too pesso-centric. The training focuses too much on weight loss and too little on pathologies.
Some of you said that you trained later with courses and/or master’s degrees and self-taught.
36% of respondents ARE ENTREPRENEURS, 58% have considered entrepreneurship at some point and only 6% have never considered it.
What are the main difficulties you have faced as an entrepreneur?
✍🏻Las most repeated answers were:
-Initial investment
-Bureaucracy, taxes…
-Lack of training in entrepreneurship, marketing, management of social networks…
-Shortage of patients
-Pricing of services
-Lack of trust/ impostor syndrome
-Lack of specialisation
If you have not started a business but would like to do so, what aspects are holding you back?
-Failure to identify your niche market.
-Difficulty in getting clients and making a living from this alone.
-Fear of failure
-Lack of support
-Financial investment and not having a steady income
-Not knowing where to start
-Too much sacrifice for the benefits
As you can see, everything is quite repetitive and the DIFFICULTIES we face in the world of work are quite similar.
