Mundo Deportivo reveals that the club performed a biopsy on the Canary Islander, in which samples of his fibres were taken and sent to Baltimore to find out what his muscles were like; and, from there, to put in place a plan to avoid further injuries.
“I have a specific job for myself that has been very good for me,” said Pedri without revealing its content and with some suspense in an interview with El País during the last Eurocup when he was asked about the routines he had implemented (in addition to pilates, cryotherapy, the hyperbaric chamber or that change of diet that had already been revealed) to try to put a stop to the cascade of muscle injuries he had suffered in recent years.
Perhaps part of the secret was explained this Saturday in the pages of Mundo Deportivo , which revealed that Barça performed a biopsy on the Canarian player, one of the captains this year, in which samples of his fibres were taken and sent to a laboratory in Baltimore, curiously the base camp of the Barça team’s last American tour .
The conclusions of the sports genetics study led Pedri to have a gym set up at home to practice daily strength exercises designed by Julio Tous , the physical trainer in whom Joan Laporta and Deco have placed their trust .
Pedri has strictly followed a plan, which for the moment is paying off. The Canary Islander has started the season at a very high level, with great games against Athletic and Rayo . Not even the injury he suffered at the Euros , totally fortuitous after Kroos ‘ blow , changed the work pattern he had established some time ago and which, at last, has allowed us to see a version close to that of the footballer who dazzled under Ronald Koeman in the 2020-21 season, in his first season as a Barça player.
